I'd like to change the steering wheel badge to a black one, but isn't it held on by lugs for a reason - ie to stop it becoming a projectile if the airbag fires? The airbag unit seems to split in the middle, just below the badge, to let the airbag inflate - so surely unless it's held on very well there's a high chance a glued on badge will fly off towards your face (ahead of the airbag) if it goes off? Just a thought, which is putting me off doing this job at the moment.
I think this is my 100th post - woo hoo Previously:

I guess it's a risk, but with Epoxy Resin, it shoudl be strong enough althoiugh there's never a guarantee!
If I'm in a situation where the airbag deploys, then I think i'd have more things to worry about TBHBodsys Brake Bible

You can buy the RRSport air bag with a black badge fitted if you want !!!!
As Bodsy said , i think you should be more worried about the flying glass , bits of trim and an exploding airbag in your face
By the way the airbag splits open the trim and seperates below the badge

The poster is correct, the badge is designed with the lugs on to keep it on the wheel when the bag goes off.
Self adhesive ones could possibly maim you, or take your eyesight if your bag goes off.
I totally agree it wouldn't be top of the list of things going through your mind as you're just about to crunch into the back of an arctic, but after the event when you find out the badge hit you in the eye at Mach 2 it might be a consideration. Of course it's down to individual choice, it just seems unwise to be sticking things to the airbag IMHO. Previously:

Apart from the fact that this is a safety item and by chenging it, your insurance has a "get out of paying" clause as you have made the vehicle and your injuries worse so you end up with nothing of course.
