Steering wheel controls

I bought a sterio control that fits onto the steering wheel from ebay the other day, but I haven't got a clue how to dismantel the steering wheel or deactivate the air bag. Can anyone advise?

Air bag is done by disconnecting the battery - bit wait for her to goto sleep first.

tis an easy job jack

but like craig said, make sure you take care of the battery first. You dont want egg/ airbag on your chin Whistle


I made the 'key' out of coat hanger.

There's no need to disconnect the airbag to fit the switches though - the wires are long enough to stay connected and rest the airbag on top of the wheel whilst you fit the switch module. Previously:

1992 90 200TDi Hard Top
1995 Discovery ES 300TDi
