Chaps any one able to help , I just fitted a LR winch to the D3
following the LR instructions I cant see from the drawings where they want you
to fit the Solenoid, as usual the instruction are for a left had drive , so things
are slightly different than what I have , for the life of me I can see where to stick the damm thing
Any one got a pic of the Solenoid installed ?

Though if you're fitting a second battery (and depending on how you wire that up) you may want to consider putting it on that side instead The End

Mine's under the battery, which appears to be standard.
i stand to be corrected (and probably will ) but IMHO even though the LR system will only work if the engine is running, it makes sense to keep the wiring running off the largest battery, which would be the standard battery, seeing as this would hopefully be able to provide most of the current , and hence the shortest path to the winch.
with the genezys (or whatever the spelling) you can selectt winch-assist or start-assist, which will connect the two batteries in parallel. Whether in practice this actually helps, i don't yet know, but assuming the alternator can only provide abbout 100A if nothing much else is running in the vehicle, and the winch can pull something like 480A at 4 tons therefore a lot of the energy comes from the batteries

I've got mine bolted to an aluminium angle in turn bolted down to where the alarm sounder was in the aux battery box.Its an Allbright as you know Chris. The positive for the solenoid is then wired across to the main battery using 35 sq cable. The negative is wired from the main battery neg terminlal down to the earth stud on the u/s of the winch.I was advised not to wire it to the YT deep cycle auxiliary battery.
I wanted to keep the solenoid where it could be easily accessed.I Presume as the warn supplied solenoid is more or less supposed to be fitted in the same but equidistant to where I have the solenoid it would be ok ?
I was down with Barry today and he is swaying towards fitting it there aswell and also wiring the can solenoid across to the main battery.Pretty sure that Yawlboys setup is the same.Your opinions.

Got it all wired up last night , I put it in under the battery for a finish and it seems to be working fine
I did a test pull with it and it had no problem in pulling the folk lift along the yard.
Looking forward now to using it out in the wilds .
Thanks to everyone for there advice on this
