I have exactly the same issue. Can't decide when it happens, but I can hear a ratcheting type noise when it goes. Never found a solution TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

Yep - had one replaced under warranty because it jammed while fully retracted.

Neil, take a look in the handbook - theres a section about "Child Safety" which describes the "Seat belt automatic locking mechanism". Basically it's designed to hold child seats firm. If you pull the belt out all the way then retract it, you can only carry on retracting it until it's gone all the way into the reel again.
Try not pulling them all they way out when the kids get in - then this shouldn't happen.

Mine too. They are designed to do this as sarumlight has mentioned to lock the car seat in position, if you fully extend and then allow to fully recoil, or vice versa, it will work normally, but will still do the same again with child seats. I queried this as a warranty failure and have it in writing that it is a design feature not a failure! I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Was a design feature of the D2 as well - once you know what it is doing it is a very effective way of locking car seats in tightly Craig

Thank you. Learn something new ... I guess my children must pull it all the way out sometimes when in the back putting belts on. Not realised this "feature" TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

Yes neil, I get the same issue, and it's usually when the kids drop something and lean down to pick it up. All is fine when they get back to normal position, until they drop it again & then they're !
So they have learnt now that they can't pick stuff up off the floor otherwise they get locked in (which can be really quite funny sometimes..... )
When it does it now, I just make sure the belt comes out of the shoulder loop thingy before I let it retract all the way. They usually let me knwo when it's locked them in, so they help with that one (in fact it's only the youngest 6yo who has the problem now & he's well trained 8) ) Bodsys Brake Bible
