Do people steel fixed tow bars?

I am towing a 1900Kg TA with the standard removable tow bar.

So far seems pretty solid to me!.

When I bought my D3 5 years ago the towbar was totally seized, replaced at the dealership with a new one.
The previous owner had it attached all the time. Therefore the failure of the removal.
Last winter I towed a 3000 kg trailer/ workmanship hut, rattled on the way out, but that was only in the trailers hitch joints, after they were tightened, no rattle or anything. Solid as a rock.
Always take mine off after use, and lubricate rear crossmember access and put in red protective bung after.
Never had any issues so far. During MOT they test the towbar, always passed.
If it is fitted the correct way and locks into position then I see no reason for it to Fail at any stage.

Have been towing 1900KG Sterling happily for 5 years maybe 6 times a year including abroad.....until recently when I noticed some 'give' after removing the Caravan.
Found that despite ensuring the detachable was rock solid before hitching up, when I un-hitched there was enough play to allow the green handle to turn about an eighth or so.
Took car for 'recall' at local $tealers who after 2 hours said all was fine.....and by the way - £1K would put all the other bits not working on my car right!!!
Not pleased with this, I videoed the play after unhitching and sent this to them asking them to write a letter to indemnify me if the thing came off.
Customer Services at Jaguar called pretty instantly and have offered to replace with the fixed tow bar (unsightly - but safe!) at no charge!!!

I think there is a message there!!

I must have the only one left which they don't know about.
And so must a mate of mine.
And so must a bloke in the next village.
We all have detachable swan necks and they're all slack- we tow 3.5t 16ft trailers on a weekly basis but the receptionist at the dealer was unsure that there had ever been an issue!
May need to call LR directly with the VIN details?
Anyone got any advice to help short-circuit the process?

Had our 08 replaced after checking recall situation, welded new cross member now have fixed tow bar, aesthetically it doesn't look that good but hey ho, if there was no issue they wouldn't change them .

I'm in a similar position in that the tow ball and storage was fit when bought so argued point and got them to pay 250 towards the extra over coat of a fixed bar. It's getting done on Thursday (half each) so there will be a detachable and storage fs soon

Result - I tried Land Rover directly but they didn't recognise the VIN (told me that the vehicle didn't exist) and I couldn't make any sense of the person on the end of the phone so I called my local main deaer and not only did they recognise the VIN immediately but they have made all the arrangements to have the job done at zero cost.
It's in there today being sorted and the dealer also managed to persuade LR to supply a new detachable swan neck rather than the ugly fixed plate.
I only use the truck for occasional family transport duties and to tow our 20 ft speedboat and the family caravan for approx 2500 miles per annum and, because we live in the Lakes we need to take the swan neck off to enable us to get to visit at least three firends whose properties have challenging driveways.
The only caveat is that I have had to sign a disclaimer to exonerate LR as their advice is that the replacement be a fixed plate and not the removable hitch.
That begs the question of why they fit this detachable version to current vehicles knowing what the towing capabilities are and the likely use to which these very capable vehicles will be put by many of their owners. Thin ice maybe........?

Interestingly the new D5 also has a detachable tow bar available, not sure what the fitment is like but it tows the same weight but has a larger nose weight capacity
