Storing Booster Cables Idea
Booster cables can be a bit of a pain to store: big, unwieldy with heavy end ready to damage something expensive. I've had this set a while and the bulky box keeps them neat it only really stores under the 3rd row or loose in the boot:

Anyway, I have a number of old laptop cases hanging around and they are perfect for storing the booster cables, allowing them to be easily stashed in the rear cubbies. As they are padded there is no chance of damaging anything whilst getting them in or out. Importantly they are also rattle free:

Finally a 3rd one (black, so rubbish picture) containing ratchet straps and bungie cords. The red bar is the hazard triangle:

They use the space efficiently as they slip into narrow places so there is still a fair amount of room left for the rest of your gear.
Not life changing in any way but a cheap option that works well with the vehicle. You can buy neoprene laptop slips on Amazon and alike for a few quid if you don't have them cluttering up the house.

Mine are just shoved under the 3rd row of seats,but I particularly like the "rattle-free" element of your idea...nothing drives me mad like a rattle.
On the return journey from the last trip green-laning in the Lakes,there was an infuriating tinkling coming from the boot......3 stops later,and partially demented by this time,I identified it as the loose washer that sits on top of the Sprinter jack.... Mine are rather large for that solution, 50mmm2 cable with Anderson connectors too, but I have them in a suitable bag under the third row behind my drivers rear passenger.

Hi Ieuan, I think I am fine but just need the docs to catch up with my way of thinking; I have more tests when I get back from holiday. My job means they take this stuff seriously but the downside is that they tend to show you the door if you are less than perfect.
