Strange behavior of LandRover key

This morning i wanted to switch the headlights on with the LandRover key on the remote. (This worked before)
What happened was that the tailgate gor unlocked.
Yes, only the tailgate. All other doors were still locked.
I thought i screwed up something ith the electric and re-programmed the light function.
I have no clou how the tailgate function got on the Landrover key.

macstech,

I'm fairly sure that in the manual, there's something about an 'emergency boot unlock' from the remote, could this be what you have inadvertently done?
 and theeeeennn......???

The LR button can be programmed as The Mean Blue one suggests.

If you are puzzled about how it programmed itself in the first place, the likely answer may be that you inadvertently pressed the LR button, then opened the upper tailgate......which has the same effect as using the emergency tailgate release (pressing both lock and unlock buttons on the centre console at the same time).

now that's a thing , if there's a facility for opening the boot with electronic wizardary, why isn't there a button that does it anyway as a normal feature? I mean they've had them in F**ds for years haven't they? 8)

Yes, "emergency unlock" would make sense. Havent find this function in my manual.
What Winger says makes sense, i will try to re-do it.
I thought i found some secret hack.
Maybe the pictures of the LandRover team show on the Nav-Screen if you hit a certain combination of keys Very Happy

I've programmed my LR button to open the rear hatch. I think I held the button down then pressed the hatch release.

It doesn't seem to release the hatch fully though- just part way.

yep, done that with mine - a 'double tap' always opens it fully, as does holding the button down whilst opening the hatch

That's because the electronic action merely releases the lock; if you don't physically lift the upper tailgate it won't open.

I use the double click method too. Not ideal, but useful if you want to get stuff into the back without putting everything down!

Do remember, though, that if the other doors are locked leaving the keys in the boot by mistake and closing the tailgate will result in a Embarassed person. It locks again when shut......
