Stratstone LR - Newcastle
Hi,
Anybody had any experience with these guys for servicing?
I ask because I have a 10 yr service coming up and they came out significantly cheaper than Team Valley LR who I was going to use (used them before with no issues), but now I'm not so sure..
I will of course try and get Team Valley to price match, otherwise I'll definitely be going to the main dealer who is cheaper?!
Who'd have thought??

Personally I wouldn't trust Stratstones workshops at all if the quality of their PDI's is anything to go by which is why I always use Team Valley. I would have a word with Dave or one of the other lads at TVLR and see what they can do. Even if it was more expensive I personally would still go to TVLR. Cheers Ian

That's good to know thanks Dan, I was brushing up on my haggling skills to get the best deal from TVLR but thought it was worth an ask 8)
Is the TVLR the only place you would use or are there others worthy of mention?

I only use TVLR for the D4 but if it's a non franchised garage you want, George Stoker at Durham 4x4 http://www.durham4x4.net/ is worth a call to Cheers Ian

+ 1 for TVLR, I'd just let them know what price you've been quoted down the road. Dave, Phil or either of the Graham'sPaul.

It's certainly the most convenient for me as I can walk there. I deal with the Graham's normally, was a bit shocked when stratstone were £150 cheaper for this service!

So here's what I have so far for a 10yr service:
Stratstone - 813
TVLR - 960
Durham 4x4 - 638
Had an interesting chat with Durham in that they now offer a megaflush option for no extra cost instead of the normal oil filter change etc (though I'm not sure what normal is exactly?), they're take on it being that the megaflush also flushes out the torque converter so is more beneficial. Must admit this sounds appealing..
My biggest dilemma is that I picked my D3 up with full main dealer history and I'd vowed to keep it that way, though I wonder now about the value in doing that - am I just being stupid in throwing extra money away just for a LR stamp?
I'll begrudgingly pay top dollar if that's the best option but I just can't ignore the price differential

I think if it was me I wouldn't be bothering with a franchised dealer at 10 years old, personally if I was looking at a second hand car it wouldn't bother me if it didn't have full LR service history as long as it had a service history Cheers Ian

There are other places in the area, like Helm Park at Tow Law and as previously mentioned Spannermonkeys off the Felling bypass.
I use Heath Dixon at Stocksfield which is closest to me and he knows what he's doing around Land Rovers.

smart money to me is to use the guys that know thier stuff & do a good job....
Find a good independent - it may be worth travelling to Leeds to use FourX4....there are more but dont know the N.EastBREXIT - done properly.
