Stratstones Bury again
Having noticed a few EGR valve faults showing up on the Faultmate , i dropped into Stratsones Bury today about 2pm .
After explaining what i had found and that i have a 4000 odd mile trip comming up in less than 2 weeks , they promptly took the keys off me . 15 mins later tech came out and told me that one was compleatly knackered and the other was near enough goosed aswell. They had them in stock ( result ) and would take 3 hours .
I left the car and strolled across the road to the pub and had some dinner and a pint .
Came back at 5pm , car all done ..2 new EGR valves fitted .
Fantastic service ..and a real bonus to get it done there and then as im away in Austria most of next week.
Big thanks then to Barrie , Mel and the team of spanner boys out the back , for very prompt and efficient service .
Any one local give them a try ...make sure you tell them your from disco 3 ...you may get that extra little "service with a smile "
Cheers Stratstones ....my trip should hopefully be a little more reliable now

And when you get back you will probably have done enough miles to go back and get them to change the timing chain I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Interested if they were warranty jobs or paid for - I have had them quote for a 30k service and front disks and pads in the last month - both times they have been about £100 - £50 more than best priced local dealers.

Just had my 60k service done at SS Bury and I couldn't wish for better service, the bill come to £249 all in. Barry the Service/Parts manager greeted me as he walked through the door and asked me straight away if I fancied taking a D4HSE for a spin which I gleefully took up his offer. First thoughts were on how precise the steering was and how much lighter the D4 felt. Body roll has been addressed with a more car like attitude towards round-abouts and the breaks seem to inspired more confidence than before. Engine gives more grunt but not as much as the published figures would suggest(mine does seem to be faster off the dot and through to <70mph) all in all it does seem an improvement on the D3 on the road but I have yet to test it off road. Is it worth the extra 10k premium over the outgoing D3 HSE? I dint think so.Club Exped trailer

Fantastic tips on how to deal with them - but I have a fundamental problem with givinng my business to a company who tries to take you to the cleaners, and then turns round and says "if they can do it ridiculously cheaper then so can we" - maybe I need to change my mindset to fit in with the crazzzzzzzzzzzy world of LR ownership?

Crazy ... Yes ... But I think all car dealers are like that.
Stratstones told me that there prices and hourly rates are fixed by head office ... But they can price match.
I just go in with the best price I can get and they don't have any issues matching itG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

In fact they now have a price match sign outside stating they will match any price within 30 miles.
The jobs I had done there was a Tesco Warranty suspension compressor replacement and a free healthcheck/software update yesterday.
I also came out with a free haldf day voucher for LRE Skipton, which was nice.Badda bing.......How you doin'?

Also the team sometimes dont recognise and quote the standard group charge
dependent on age and mileage of vehicle
I live in the real world but even i cant compete with some silly prices what are out there!
Id rather have abit than nothing at all
And we do the job right and have an experienced group of guys that i plough tones of money
in training too so they no what there doing
Steve our workshop controller been doing it for 47 years i think he was there when the first landrover
was built in 1948!
Thanks
