Stutter, followed by restricted performance, air leak sound

Hi all, new to the forum, having a touch of bother with my 2009 Discovery 4, hopefully someone can assist?
On a 3 hour drive today, almost at destination, travelling on the motorway. All of a sudden while pulling out to overtake a lorry the car stuttered and lost some power. The restricted performance message appeared followed by the engine light. There's an air hissing sort of sound that comes from the engine bay when accelerating, not replicable when stopped and revving in neutral. It's not affected by vehicle speed, seemingly only by engine revs under load. I got to my destination and poking around under the bonnet I've come across a detached small hose, I'll try and attach a photo if i can. What is this house, would it create these symptoms if broken, and how could I repair this.
Thanks all
* When looking at the engine bay from the front, the hose is to the left towards the back. Let me know if you need any more info, I have AA cover, do you reckon they could fix this without the need for a trip to the garage?
