Help, my sunroof decided not to close today. Tried the reset method and flattened the battery in the process. So needed a jump start. Bloody thing won’t close, and it’s now 11pm. Had to shove a tarp over the hole. Any ideas welcomed.

It maybe worth reading owners manual.
Some cars use to have an emergency close procedure. With a flat blade screw driver or cranking tool.

Fully charge battery, hold the interior close button until your arm is ready to fall off not the usual 2 minutes.
Check there is nothing physically stopping it, the sliding part has a safety trip on it, the up/down dosn't. Check the fuses. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Update. I had already checked and cleaned the sliders and gave a spray of wd40 And checked the fuses. Anyway, last night I used the tarp. So on my way to work tod, I tried it on the way, and hey presto it closed.

I never use the sunroof in the D4, precisely as I'm certain it'll happen to me.
It happened to my son in his Seat Leon - roof stuck open and no way of manually closing. Upshot was that the entire sunroof needed to be replaces, at a cost of £2,500 (the unit isn't designed to be repaired). As the car was only worth about £4k, we ended up buying a new car.

I was having issues with my sunroof where it would only close if i used the reset procedure, didnt worry about it over winter but now its getting warm i was planning to look at it.
Anyway i had a bunch of leaves stuck in it from earlier in the year so i cleaned them out and its working again so i assume they were blocking something, i generally tilt it up in summer otherwise its like 50c inside.

I've just had the same problem on my car and the reset procedure worked a charm. I've recorded a video here for the benefit of anyone else with the same issue...
