Surging, Reving in cold weather
So I have the following reving / surging when in on the drive or driving
I can get rid of it but its a little inconsistent on the exact how to;
1. Start engine, drive in manual, stop the engine, restart with 20 seconds glow, Drives ok
2. Drive for a while in auto (like I'm on a rocking horse), restart runs ok
3. Warmer days only, glow, ignition off, glow, start ok
None of the above "fixes" are consistent, I have a secondary issue with the fuel gauge not working. No real error codes to speak of.
I read the issues on gearbox/TC issues causing the issue but looked like they were only while driving / under load (below graph is while in neutral)
LPFP is 6 weeks old and has been running ok, so don't think its that.
Any thoughts on something catastrophic about to happen?

Search for oil temperature sensor, its screwed into the side of the sump and is easy to change, about 30 quid.

Thanks will take a look - love that some of these things wrong seem completely unrelated to what I would think! every day is a learning day

Just following up on what was causing this.
I tried to disconnect the oil temp sensor and started the car, had a different type of surging (500rpm wave) so didn't think that was causing it.
Went back to the fuel gauge issue - turns out (after a lot of staring at DMM and not having a clue) there was still short of the red returns from the pump and senders (explains the 7v DMM reading and 4.8v IID reading)
Fixed the wire, and the gauge came back to life, also no revving / surging on starting it up. As a bonus, this brake light warning also went out (who knew that fuel sender/pump short caused another warning light to come on!)
Did a fault clear, drove it around, all good (until the next issue pops up!).
Just need to fix the front valve now, which is next weekends fun! Thanks to Lynall and massive thanks to Robbies guides!
