If the cameras were based on the corners of the bumpers this would work as they do in the new BMW 7 Series. However, on the D4 they are flush either side of the numberplate. I tested this coming out of a side road in one of our mid wales towns where the buildings are either side of the car so you need the whole of the bonnet out in the road before you can see. I thought it would come into it's own but the view is so distorted that even though you see the view a little earlier the distortion makes it impossible to judge the distance to cars approaching.

Hmmm, this thread might sway me form ordering an LR4 with the surround (combined with the build wait time since I'm late to the ordering party ).
I've seen the Infiniti system on an EX35 first hand when trying out cars with my wife (she ended up with the G37 coupe ). I thought the LR surround camera was cool when I tested out an RRS, UNTIL I experienced the Infiniti. It's much more practical for daily use and better thought out.
