It’s a trade sale. If he thinks otherwise it’s fraud. Trading standards and HMRC will be very interested.

Have a look at any insurance policies you have for legal representation. Also keep any correspondence including the advert.

I'm laughing or I'll cry!!

That's an easy "fix", you can bog it so it thinks the bonnet is shut with one half of a wooden peg Whistle

He said he wasn't trading from his business address due to Covid.
I spoke to him and he's not prepared to help me.
I'll get some advice tomorrow.

One for Trading Standards I think
Proffesional advice would be sensible but if I remember right under the sale of goods act he had sold you a vehicle unfit for purpose.

Make lots of noise, he has been dishonest

Thanks all so much.
She has been quite good today, not a peep until the torrential rain. I am logged with LR customer service re the recall problem.
Going to blank off the EGR as she is quite smokey and sluggish
Sensors next to order. We've noticed this problem seems to happen in the wet. Got caught in a rain and hail storm today and the suspension error appeared. Didn't lower and bounce me about the place though. Woop woop!

I am astounded by this. In my opinion the vehicle is unfit for purpose and you should seek legal advice.

I thought mine was bad when I purchased from a dealer in September but nothing like this. Mine were all annoying but not cheap issues and didn’t make it unusable.

Good luck.
 Cheers,

Jez

Hi everyone,

My name’s Jordan Stilp, the owner of True Car Sales.

This is a first for myself, as you can see I haven’t had any bad reviews they are all 5 star which are all legitimate and verified by AutoTrader.

The vehicle is a 2007 reg with over a 190,000 miles on the clock so issues may occur. The issues I knew about were raised at the point of sale. Despite the fact I do trade cars, this vehicle was actually my own private Land Rover that I’ve done many, many miles in and never had any problems.

It’s unfortunate that issues have occurred, therefore I have offered the customer a full refund and collection of the vehicle. This has been rejected by the customer.

I’ve never had to do this before, however, I felt the need to address this as the sale was nothing to do with my company and was a genuine private sale, so seeing my company name being tarnished was very disappointing.

This is all I’m going to say on the matter, however, if any of you do have any questions, feel free to message me direct.

Thank you.

Regards, Jordan.

Two sides to every story - guys giving his version, full refund offered but rejected? That sounds reasonable to me Idea

£4000 isn't a massive amount I guess for D3? even with high mileage

The owner would probably like to invest and fix the car.

Hi Jordan,

I agree that problems are going to occur on 190k car - especially a D3.

The main problem I can see is you've written the receipt on your True Cars Sales company receipt pad, so it APPEARS to be trade, even if it isn't.

If you have offered a genuine full refund (Not less £x for incidentals or such like) then there doesn't appear to be a case to answer, beyond the expenses the purchaser has incurred (Car tax for the month which would not be reimbursed etc), which may be what decided her to keep it.?

Yes the receipt does appear to be the problem.

Even if you just wanted a bit of paper to write a receipt on I could understand that.
However you have used both the company name and address rather than your home address.

Yes I was offered a refund, because Mr Stilp received an anonymous message from someone on here stating that his company was being slated.
He points out that he told us the issues but also states that he never had any problems with it.
I am trying to get the brakes fixed through Landrover so that it is no cost to the trader as I believe morally, they should do it again due to the PO17 recall, I am waiting for their call today. So all I have asked, under my consumer rights is that we negotiate repair on the suspension? (The suspension that in the advert on FB and autotrader "all works as it should") I received an email at approx 18.30 last night stating that I need to tell Mr Stilp by 2pm today if I want to keep the car in it's current condition, or that he can pick the car up at his earliest convenience and refund it. Or if he doesn't hear anything he will assume I am keeping the car, sold as seen and all communications are resolved.
