Suspension Compressor - Replace or Rebuild
My project Disco 3 has the usual pressure increases too slowly fault on the suspension, so I am guessing at 14years and 114k miles the compressor is tired I have no evidence in all the receipts that is has ever been replaced.
The quandary I have is do I rebuild the compressor with one of the kits from the likes of 4x4 air seals or try one of the cheap replacement compressors available?

If it is a Hitachi then rebuild it - as well as the usuals bits make sure you do the exhaust valve and its housing and replace the desiccant chamber cap with the turned aluminium version.

Hi Jamie
It might just be as simple as servicing/replacing the dryer. My dryer cap was cracked when I looked at it - replaced it with an aluminium one and it's been perfect ever since :

Mark I had thought about just doing the drier but if I am going to the hassle of getting the compressor and replacing one component I may as well do them all.
Well it has the firmware for a Hitchai compressor the next thing I suppose is to get the old compressor off and verify it is a Hitachi take it from there, not like I can use the car at the minute.

Not a bad idea. I managed to get the dryer off and leave the rest of the compressor on the car, so it worked out easier in the end for me. But if you are going to remove the whole thing then I agree it's worth doing a full overhaul
Good luck

It takes 5 minutes to remove the compressor (OK 30minutes if you have not done it before) - take it off and do the job properly.
If you have a compressor off a D4 it will most likely be a AMK whereas the one on the D3 will most likely be a Hitcahi unless it has been changed at some stage.

Actually the Disco 4 originally had a Hitachi compressor now has a genuine Land Rover AMK one, its not the taking it off that I found much of a hassle it was more getting it back on when working on the floor.
I suspect doing it for a second time it will be easier like most things are.
