Suspension compressor running - no gallery pressure

My 2005 D3 has an AMK compressor.
The compressor runs for about 5 secs before stopping with fault light lit.

Although the compressor runs there is no change in gallery pressure (same as atmospheric)
All sensors seem to have correct voltage supply and be delivering expected readings.

What do people think the most likely cause?

Can the exhaust valve be manually checked?
- can the IID force the exhaust valve to cycle or is there an easy way to apply power to the valve?
Any sensible way of checking whether the compressor is actually working as well as just running
- I can easily run the compressor manually.

Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

Undo the pipe from compressor into valve block, run compressor, check for air output Thumbs Up

Makes sense DM! Very Happy

I've never had good luck with the push/Voss connectors - is one end normally more 'reliable' than the other?

edit:I must be tired - I'll just go and try to pull the pipe from the valve block, like you suggested! Very Happy

On the plus side, when I first got the fault I redid the wiring fixes in the NSF wheel arch with much nicer connectors.

Well, as IIRC Jeremy Clarkson said about the Maserati Quattroporte vent system, it is like an asthmatic breathing through a straw...gently! Sad

Is there a rebuild kit or is it new compressor time?

Have got and fitted a new air compressor and all is good!

I cleaned, dried the silica and put new filters in the old one before replacing it and it was giving more air through the feed pipe.
Before I fitted the new comp though I tried the old one and....
The majority of the air was being fed straight to the exhaust outlet!

So, fitted the new one, but if I can get the exhaust valve working properly I reckon the old one will be fine also.

Anyone have an exploded diagram of how the port/valve should look and possible avenues to go down.
I'll check the solenoid works but even if it didn't I assume it would default to closed anyway.

Is it sprung or does it work on pressure differential?

Thanks!

Just remove it and clean it, if no joy you might be able to find a replacement Thumbs Up

If the exhaust valve has not been working correctly for some time and as you say it only runs for 5 seconds you have it a fault with the compressor, there are valves inside the compressor.
With the Hitachi compressor they are simple rubber valves which can stick if the car has been stood for a long period(weeks, months) and/or disintegrate, I don’t know about the AMK.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Suppose not a bad price that comes with a 2 x years warranty

Then for an extra £38.50 can add another 2 x years
