Took out the compressor assembly, an easy job since previous person who did it didn't bother to install the top bolt. Take a look att the pictures in the gallery http://disco3.co.uk/gallery/index.php?cat=17082
Basically all looks fine, compressor runs fine when power is connected, dryer seems to let air through and all valves looks clean and free moving. Compressor assembly was dated May 2009 so is quite new.
Back under the D3 it started up and fills the system with air, but as soon as the computer is trying to release air from the system the fault comes back and the same fault codes. For some reason the system does not see a pressure drop when trying to release air. But if no pressure is present it seems to acknowledge that and give OK to the compressor to start.
Activating the exhaust valve with separate supply seems to work fine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ-yy7cu1W0
Now I really miss the ability to run the valves individually and monitoring the pressure Sad
