suspension fault, question

my 07 d3, keeps coming up with a suspension fault, the dealer is going to fit a compressor, which seems a common fault,
out of warranty, so i will pay for it, nothing i am missing here is there, or just a landrover "feature"
the fault happened i believe when i help out my local scout troop and towed a hores box full of kit to camp.
to attatch the trailer, i back up lower the car, revers it, then raise the car onto the trailer towhitch.
so the suspension is then lifting my car and some of the trailer weight,
as they have asked me again to do the same for summer camp,
is this the correct way, ?
i know the answer is not to help, but,,
