Suspension Moves when Locking Car - Steering Restart Eco

Hi all

Two questions if possible.

When locking the car and leaving the car the suspension moves quite a bit and every time, is this a standard thing that they do? Also does it with trailers on the back.

Also, when the car has stopped for eco purposes, should movement of the steering wheel restart the car? Currently, the only way i have found to restart is to release break and i was fairly sure that moving the steering wheel should restart the car

Many thanks Thumbs Up

Although my D4 is much older, mine also moves quite a bit when locking it, particularly the rear. From other things I have seen on here this does seem normal.

As for the stop start business, unfortunately no experience of this, although my wife is getting a new Golf later today, so I will need to get used to that.

However, I just thought trying to drive off was the only way the engine restarted, unless something was drawing power, such as the air conditioning and then it would start even whilst stopped, so unless the power steering used enough power I wouldn't have thought it would make the car start.

I am sure someone with a stop start Discovery will be along with a proper answer!

The suspension is normal it is just the car self leveling Thumbs Up

As for stop/start the manual states:-

The engine will also restart if one of the
following occurs:
• Intelligent stop/start is deactivated.
• The accelerator pedal is pressed.
• A shift paddle is used to select a gear.
• The steering wheel is turned.
• Reverse (R) is selected.
• Climate control system demand increases.
• The vehicle’s speed exceeds approximately
1 km/h (0.5 mph).
• Battery charge becomes low.
• Brake vacuum has been reduced (e.g., using
the brake pedal repeatedly with the engine
off).

I have to admit I haven't tried turning the wheel when it is in a stop cycle, I'll give it a try today Thumbs Up

Sounds like my steering and stop start have an issue, i thought it should of restarted.

If you could give it a try Dan, it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks Thumbs Up

Just tried it this morning and obviously the steering is very heavy with the engine off but no amount of wriggling could get the engine to start Thumbs Up
