Suspension wear, what might these symptoms suggest
I just wondered if anybody can point me in the direct of where to start looking for a potential suspension wear issue.
These are the symptoms I've noticed.
Inconsistent steering wheel shimmy at around 60/70mph. Sometimes it's fine, other time it wobbles.
Wobble noticeable through the brake peddle when braking, but doesn't get worse like warped discs tend to
Occasional metallic clunk when hitting potholes in the road. This seems easier to induce when travelling downhill
Possible slight lateral movement on the OSF wheel. Noticed when checking the wheel nuts with a torque wrench.
Car has 71K on the clock & new Pirelli scorpions
Thanks in advance

I described your first three symptoms to JAS Land Rover (York) back in early December and whilst I am waiting to make a proper visit to them and get a final diagnosis, they felt it was likely to be the front lower arms (and therefore bushes) that are in need of replacement. A common issue I believe.
My old D3 Commercial used to eat front bushes for breakfast. The oil-filled ones. I had two sets under warranty in 70k miles. The 'clunk' was always the giveaway, plus the vague feeling when steering.
My D4 Commercial has clunked for a lot of miles and I should have sorted this sooner.
My visit to JAS is pending

I had very similar symptoms to you Nick. Albeit from about 125k ish.
New front lower arms from Advanced Factors solved it all.2010MY Disco 4 HSE in Ipanema Sand over Almond.
It's got THE rear diff.
That good to hear as you concur with my thinking. At least I'll have some confidence when pursuing it with the dealer under the used approved warranty

Clunk from the front under braking is a classic symptom of lower front wishbone bush failure.
As for the wobble, it is also typical of disk warping or caliper trouble, but incorrect tyre pressures will cause it too.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
