Hi ,I collect my disco 4 (60)plate xs soon ,

At the front on the black part of the bumper above the number plate in the gap is a rectangle what looks like an infared device on a bracket about 1in by 3in withe a wire the goes from it goes somewhere into the loom ,,

Any thoughts on what it could be please Exclamation

You can't have adaptive cruise as it wasn't an option

Could it be for opening electric gates gates or a garage door?

Ah thats a thought ,,

The dealer ive bought it from (not landrover) thinks it could be a radar jammer , but its a one owner car by a lady with an elderly name so unless dorris was a lead foot i cant see it being that

I also thought about a radar or something speed camera related, but then if they removed the unit or whatever was inside why not take that.

I would say that's to obvious for a radar jammer as I think they are illegal in the UK.

United Kingdom

Yes, jammers are illegal in the UK.

A (ex) friend had something very similar on the front of his car. He'd never adequately explained to me what it was genuinely for, but he's had at least two long conversations with the gentlemen of the constabulary explaining to them that it was to open a garage door.

If looks unoriginal and it's not needed, I'd remove it. It'll only attract unwelcome attention.
