cheers for the info. Just looking at the Max height specs for the container, and with rack on and access height its touch n go.  D3 will have alot of crap inside, stuff mother wants shipped too

No worries guys, father in law organises shipments of USAF personel between UK and US, thats the families and vehicles either way. He was in Croughton/nr Banbury and Mildenhall/Lakenheath, but now both back in the US, and he suggested it would be cheaper, or virtually FOC  , so its semi planned.
Spoke to HR at work, and with saving holiday entirely I can drop out of operations as we have a huge Agency/contractor forfillment, and understanding from the current year.
Why not!!!!!!plus swmbo aint met her mother in law

Having been posted there for a few years, if your Disco is a diesel (I assume it is) and you plan shipping it to the US (which is actually pretty cheap - no need for a container I'd say, plus they're very funny about any vehicles shipping with anything more than a spare tyre (or 6) inside) then I'd make sure you're ready for some pretty crappy fuel. US diesel is a long, long way removed from european diesel. Ever wondered why most D3's sold in the US are petrol? Maybe a remap is a necessary option for the kind of crap they sell as diesel.
That said, KY has some beautiful parts, as does the rest of the area. They also sell tyres over there. I'd be looking at bringing them back, though, not taking them with me. Far cheaper over there as I recall.

Stop it, cant wait  ...................we weighed up the costs, and its basically FOC on the container, I am BAS tuned too. For the amount of time I will be there its best I take the D3 , but Somerset KY aint far from :
Jim Bean Distillery
Jack Daniels Distillery
Southern Comfort Distillery
So they tell me. Also right ontop of Lake Cumberland, which to the unknowledgeable was the intended flooded area that featured in "oh father where art though" film with Clooney etc.
