Tail Gate problem for an Italian member |
|
An Italian member is having problems with his tail-gate, basically it won't open, can anyone please point me in the direction of the thread that discussed this problem
The tail-gate seems to make a noise but fails to open, I can then try to piont him in the right direction I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

I had this problem a while back. Plenty of Chicken Jalfrezi and a bottle of Red Wine sorted it out. Duncan

Is it the top or the lower tailgate that doesn't open.
I had a small problem with my top tailgate a week back just when I came back from shopping and couldn't get the top part open. After lost off pushing and pulling locking and unlocking I finally got it open. And found that the catch was full off dust.
Bolivian dust probably but not the white version.
Some oil and and some closing and opening with a screw driver got it moving easier and didn't have the same problem again. Roel

Fantastic document that should be made a 'stickie'
However I'm struggling with my size 8.5 hands. Cannot get far enough in to do more than feel the bare cable in the actuator. Will have to ponder more. What shape pliers did you use to pull the wire??
BTW You must have strong butter knives down under -I thought mine would break & resorted to the trusty screwdriver!! Richard

I may have use a screwdriver to start it off It has been a while...Once you get hold of the cable you will find you will be able to pull it out far enough to get a pair of pliers on to it (I used electrical). Getting hold of it is the tricky bit....
It is not easy and I have only done it the one time. May be it was shear luck You fingers need to rap under the actuator push under the soft plastic bit and with two fingers grab the cable....Sounds easy doesn't it.
