Tailgate

It seems I have a problem with the tailgate initially I thought it was a problem with the hot weather we are having but I’m going to remove the carpet from the inside to check if the cable has snapped , question is once I’ve got the door open how do I remove the little plastic plugs that hide the screws on the top trim without making a pigs ear of them?

A nail file or a little pick....but it is quite difficult to remove them without marking them....however you only need to apply a little pressure before they ease out...work them out gently around their circumference...

Must be something in the air!

On Sunday mine did the same. As the boot was shut, I spent an hour in the back of the car (in 30 degree heat!) ripping the tailgate trim apart to manually open the boot Big Cry

My cable was fine, it was the actuator that was weak, so I have a new one order now.

Well I’ve come home tonight and waited for SHMBO to turn up in the car and bearing in mind that it’s a bit cooler today I’ve pressed both the fob and inside but and it’s opened so it’s not a broken cable, I’m thinking the white plastic bit in the lower tailgate has swollen up in the heat ?

My advice is do not shut it again!

Take all the trim off in order to access the actuator and test that.

Believe you me, you will be bloody cross when it wont open next time and you have to do what I did to open it Censored
