Tailgate failure tip
I know there are several tips on how to get the upper tailgate open but I found a very easy way that saves you getting your hands up inside!
(This will only work if the end has broken off of the cable)
When you get the interior trim off look where the cable goes into the gold actuator bracket as shown in the picture.
Push the black cable lug towards the back of the vehicle and the cable will pop out allowing you to grab it easily and pull the cable to open the tailgate.
