Tailgate Handle
On the tailgate handle alongside the two number plate lights there is a small removable plastic cover hiding a small opening (approx 1.5" square). Does anyone know what this hole is for and whether they see any problem me utilising this hole to fit a reversing camera (the camera would protrude out the hole at the correct angle)?

I have just brought a Garmin BC-30 camera and so will be trying to fit this into the hole. Not sure I could get the LR camera or cheapo fleabay option to pair with the Garmin satnav I'm installing.

It is a bargain and will very probably work with a Garmin too.
They only have an AV lead and a power lead, dead easy. Mods:

Indeed at that price don’t mind spending time with possibly a dremil to adjust it
Wonder how they compare in quality, especially when light drops
Oh hang in that’s what LED reversing bulbs are for

You only need to drill a hole to fit that camera you could even fit it to the hole blanking plate under the handle if needs be.

This type have a very obvious problem. Because one of the number plate lights is reduced to around a third of its size, so is the light pattern and it constantly looks likes you have a number plate lamp out.
I changed mine for exactly this reason to this type:

Thanks Narpy - I’ve had the same concern actually. Last winter, I had a license plate lamp out and got a notice for it during inspection. The vehicle passed as the other worked. Here they’re fairly strict with the lights so if one lamp looks different from another there might also be questions... like is the smaller looking one E rated or not.
