tailgate load capacity

Hello all,

does anyone have a number for the load capacity of the lower tailgate in kilos?
I understand that one person can easily sit on it, but is there any official number from LR?

Thank you!

Yuo wouldn't - but you might STAND on it, each with your binoculars watching an equestrian event or other countryside pursuit Whistle Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I've had a "very generous" 250kg on mine, albeit briefly while pulling a maxibag of ballast out, so the two big blokes would have to be VERY big blokes to get anywhere near that Whistle

One American yes - 2 and a half 'normal' people Rolling with laughter

The tailgate is supposed to support 2 adults standing on it (not American adults though Rolling with laughter )

I've had two big blokes on mine standing up to watch the Fairford airshow last weekend, no problems at all. I suspect it will take quite a bit more than 250kg if that's what it's spec'd as.

No problems with two big blokes standing on it, don't be afraid to use it, it was designed for it!
