Tailgate will not open 'repair' |
|
OK, so I've downloaded the document and looked at various posts that describe how to remove the rear trim.
I feel I must be doing something wrong as it doesn't appear as easy as described.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...repair.doc
I've already broken part of the upper plastic tailgate that holds in the carpet trim
I have most of the carpet trim out, but at each end where the cable is secured to the tailgate, there is additional trim that's still holding the carpet trim in. How is this removed?????
Is all of the carpet trim supposed to come off, or just the top section?
I can see the grey 'sticky' covering, but it's still very difficult to get your hands in without the carpet trim removed completely.
I'll hold off breaking anything else until I hear from a helpful soul
Cheers

Its not easy for the first time and its hard on your fingers and hands ,once the trim is off it can be a pain to fix as you are not sure how it fits and the best angle to get at it ,Colin

Not being able to visualise what your trying to do is quite difficult. (For me )
I've taken a few more picture and will post them to my profile later. I'll also suggest they are added to the current and well written document, (without which I would have never attempted this repair).
Thanks

Hi
When i had a problem with my tail gate LR Assist asked me if when i pressed the button did i hear the lock working or not. As i could not he advised me that the problem was with the switch and not the lock mechanisum he said remove the plastic panel at the bottom on the upper tail gate then disconnect the plug to the rear handle for the button and number plate lights and then re connect it and the boot unlocked all you have to do is push on the tail gate as you re connect it to push it open.
