Great advice. Have just told my daughter she's going to stay with Grandma at Easter as there is no room in the car for her. She's fine with that Rolling Eyes

And then you've got to figure out how to tell Mrs th that she's been replaced by a couple of boxes of parts and a second spare. Laughing Laughing

As I hinted earlier, you're not going to the true ar$.e end of nowhere, if you need any bits then the credit card will come into its own. I headed from Cobham to Sortland in NW Norway to strip my dead D3 with nothing extra except some road trip grub and survived. Thumbs Up

A tow rope, either for towing or being towed.
A can of emergency puncture repair, might be pouring rain or not a safe place to change a tyre.
A roll of small bin bags, great for putting wet stuff in.
A box of disposable gloves, for when you want to keep your hands clean.
A hacksaw/ bushman saw, never know what you might need to cut.
A ball of light rope, can be doubled if you need a stronger rope.
A strong scissors, might need to cut something.

Etc etc.

Plastic tarpaulin sheet in case you need to lie under the car, also can be used as a rain shelter over the back of the tailgate if open etc (plus adequate rope)

clear tape for headlamp repair etc. … Lidl had some 3M stuff that was much cheaper than getting one specifically for headlamps.

Now this thread has me thinking I need a bigger box for all the extra kit I may end up taking on my 7 week trip.
2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
