Injector dribble, general wear and tear the list is endless as common rail injectors are not like ones of old, do some research theres some interesting reading out there.
Even the old school exhaust smoke colours dont really apply any more.
Many common rail engines need the same pressure (200 odd bar) just to start the engine as the old ones could develop on a good day.

hi everyone, i have a problem with my disco3, i had the head gaskets done before xmas because it was using water but when it came back it started using oil about a gallon a week was told it may be the turbo coz it had some play in it, i have now had the turbo done but still the same, i think its the valve stem oil seals because they never changed them. anyone with any ideas, cheers mick Bow down

probably about 30 to 40 miles but dosen't seem to be burning it, only get a big cloud of smoke on start up, they said i had a knocking at the bottom end but after taking it to 2 other 4x4 places and they seem to think there's a problem with the left hand cam, the oil seems to be seeping through a seal to me.
