Other Comments
Witnessed while on a 4WD trip by another member and the smoke made the rear of the D3 hard to see and lasted for 30-50 sec.
Dealer using Test Book identified that connectors on the back of the engine are causing this problem. Spent 1 day getting to the connectors and rectified the fault. The Engine has an oil drain vent which was dumping oil into the exhaust as a result of the ECU getting incorrect data. This was the service centres notes in the fault report.

I have experienced the same problem on two occations in the past three weeks, both time standing at a red light, and suddenly the car disapears in a cloud of white smoke, immediatly after pulling off the smoke clears and there is no affect on performance.Disco4 SDV6 HSE 2013, Faultmate MVS2.

Not quite sure what that meant?
But on that subject mine puffs out either blue or white smoke that can only be seen in the dark in front of other people's headlights and mainly when pulling off from lights etc but clears quickly. It doesn't even need to be full throttle just a fairly quick getaway. I have owned the car around 7 yrs and it has never used any oil whatsoever. I have put it down to not doing many motorway miles and therefore clogging itself up abit?D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

Even the small amount of smoke looks bad at night in the car behind's headlights. I haven't seen any D3's that don't smoke then you pull away fairly sharpish, i don't think its anything to worry about

Blue smoke when idle or on a warm/hot startup
Hi Guys I really need some advice here please...
I have a 2006 Discovery 3, 94k which pumps out blue smoke only on startup or when I'm sitting idle in traffic. When I drive it its fine.
I was told it was my turbo at first but 2 mechanics and the RAC guy that came out to tow me back home.
So i sent it to the garage to have a new turbo, only to be told it was fine and no leaks.
They did a compression test and all came back good.
Then i have a local mechanic come round and clean the breather pipes and a PVC OR PCV which ever it is lol, things started to get better. He said that he didn't believe it was the valve stem seals as it would also do it on a cold startup...which it doesn't.... I'm at a loss as to what is causing it..... I have had a full oil change and filter. I have put 3 bottles of injector cleaner through the fuel tank in the past 2 weeks and also added something to the engine oil that helps revitalise the oil seals etc in the engine.
Is there anything that is attached to the engine that could cause it to be burning oil.........
If i sit idle for a few mins i can see the blue smoke, and when i drive off there is a lot of smoke for about 10 to 20 seconds, then all is good and i can drive for hours with no smoke appearing.

I would say one or more of the injectors could be leaking.
