TH White Swindon and Tesco Finest
The cable in my tailgate broke, leaving it unable to be opened...Inopportune as I had just loaded up the back with luggage of all sorts because the family was coming to stay with me in Cricklade during my work week...
Anyway, called Tesco Warranty, they said take to a dealer and have them get in touch once they determine what the issue is (if electrical it would not be covered, but if mechanical, it is.)
Took it to TH White, they told me they'd have to open it up first (a couple hours labour) to tell Tesco the nature of the problem. (Which made me pick up the phone to call 10forCash to give him first shot at it. in case I was out of pocket significant labour costs, alas, he was on his way to Norway!) Anyway, booked the car in at lunch, got a ride back to work, and 3 hours later, work done completely under Tesco Finest Warranty so I didn't have to shell out money there and then despite TH White not being registered with them.
They also took care of a couple of small things, which, unfortunately were not covered under warranty (they asked Tesco, too.) And the car got a well-deserved washing and hoovering. And they dropped it off at my work place.
Kudos to Martin and co. in the service department at TH White: job well done, in spite of my trepidation.

It's great when a dealer takes the effort to get sorted with Tesco, for me it's Frank Ogg in Elgin, not much good your you folks down souff!!! Whilst it doesn't cover the car as the original one did, my finest policies (for 2 cars) has paid for itself many times over (2 x blown turbos). As our antipodean cousins would say, Good on ya T H Whites.

so you'll be their happy customer for the year then, dont foget to fill in the dealer feeback form otherwise no one at LR will believe them
Funny how they managed to "mend a few items at full price" whilst they were there, took mine in for an emergency EPB squeal on the eve of a trip to scotland, rang me towards the end of the afternoon and said "oh we believe you need new brake cables etc, that will be X amount of money" told them to foxtrot off and just clean/adjust the epb as requested, funny not had a brake cable failure yet
took newbie member's ex-highways in for a lazy seatbelt, gave me the third degree, wanted me to hang around for the service manager to have a word with me, ie to pursuade me that it was not a warranty repair due to "fair wear and tear" rubbish, walked out, shame he's WAS one of their existing clients and had bought a new FL2 from them, yeovil did all the work and more besides, no problems all under warranty.
Bet you a million dollars that if you'd walked in with a LR warranty, would have been a completely different story

Hi character,
Given my experience of dealerships in general (whether LR or not), no doubt your experiences may be more representative.
They did try getting me to buy some wiper blades from them, too, but I said "no, thank you, I'll DIY it." But I generally take that as a given of the kind of thing dealerships do. From my point of view, they exceeded expectations.
Unfortunately, my current lifestyle and schedule does not afford me the ability to make it to Yeovil when I need things fixing, and my time for DIY is very limited, as I only ever see my family on weekends.
The one thing they did fix was obvious: the rear wiper arm was making no contact with the window, so I wasn't that much lighter than from before I sent it in.
Anyway, perhaps I shall see you around Swindon and environs at some point
Cheers,
James

Have My D3 with them today.
Feeling a bit uneasy about it really. Dont have much love for them but do not have time to take it to Yeovil at the moment.
Got a bit of a rattle through the steering when turning left. and car seems to lean over to much on the right side when making a left turn. Waiting for the phone to ring to see if its gonna cost me (as it's under warranty I hope not) or if they can find a fault in the first place.
They have given me a Freelander 2 for the day, Although its nippy I personally think its a bag of compared to the D3.I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

I was worried they might but they called this afternoon to say I needed two tie rod ends replacing and they will do it under warranty.
So hopefully that will be that and I can have it back tomorrow afternoon. If they come up with anything else I will
want a second opinion if a cost is involved.
Just can't wait to get the freelander back to them as it's awfulI have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

Have to say, I brought it in again for an MOT and an air con service...
Was expecting the worst...But, MOT passed with flying colours and nothing extra was unearthed during the air con service. And the air con is now working much better than before (TFC recommended I get it recharged, anyway, when he checked the car, so that was not at the suggestion of TH White.)
Plus, they cleaned interior and exterior, even shampooed the carpets, at no extra cost.
I must be lucking out. My experiences with dealers of all types are almost never positive.

Oh, must also say, the success of the MOT must also come down to the good work of our friend 10forCash! He sorted out just about everything else that needed done in order for the car to be properly passable.
