@manichauhan you don't really need a tool to reset the car, just remove both battery leads and join both LEADS together for a min or so, this will do the same.

So do I require the GAP software & IID tool to 'reset' the vehicle as described by the OP ?

I am not quite sure I fully understand what it means to 'reset' the vehicle. Is it am ECU reset or it is a specific function within the GAP Software ?

Any help would be most useful.

Thanks Flack,

I just saw your message. I assume 'reset' the vehicle means reset the ECU then, which as you rightly said, can be done by disconnecting the battery.

It worked !!

Fuel gauge become inoperative. After about a 1000 miles, car goes in judder mode every 10-15 seconds (feels like a misfire), and engine would eventually shut down after about a minute. Unable to drive it safely.

Disconnected the +ve lead from the battery for about an hour (I guess 30 minutes would have been enough) to 'reset' the ECU. Hey presto (!) the juddering stopped and I guess I have another 1000 miles before the problem creeps up again. As flack pointed out, IID tool was not required to reset the vehicle.

I can now drive safely to a garage to get the problem fixed. Any recommendations for a good garage ? I am based in Hertfordshire.
