Thermotop V/Vevo wiring (technical)
Hi all,
Past two years I've been meddling with Thermotop C / V / Vevo and have successfully built controllers using the excellent info from very knowledgeable members within this forum.
My question is perhaps slightly off Disco3 topic, but here I go .....
The 8 pin plug wiring on Webasto Thermotop V and Vevo are as follows ....
Pin 1 ..... ***Unused***
Pin 2 ..... W-Bus / K/Line (for webasto diagnostics or Disco3 DIY controllers)
Pin 3 ..... ***Unused***
Pin 4 ..... CAN L (Canbus low)
Pin 5 ..... To fuel metering pump (+) {other pin on fuel pump goes to chassis (-)}
Pin 6 ..... Coolant shut off valve (+) {other pin on coolant valve goes to chassis (-)}
Pin 7 ..... Can H (Canbus high)
Pin 8 ..... Fresh Air blower relay
All above pinouts are self explanatory.
BUT, it annoys me when pinouts are not fully disclosed, therefore I spent a little more time trying to find any more info on "***Unused***" pins 1 and 3
Please note I do not know whether all auxillary or parking heaters hardware and or software allows use of all above pins but with research I have discovered that Pin 1 and Pin 3 are used within the VW group of cars which DO NOT have aircon as standard fit to car.
Interestingly to me these two wires (Pin 1 and Pin 3 on the Aux Heater plug) are wired back to to an "Instantaneous Heating Button" electronic module named as E537 on a 2006 European Golf of which I do not know the internal electronic workings of, therefore unsure if its another special data signal output, or perhaps just as simple as a logic on - off switch output ....for instantaneous heating.
I would love to know from anyone who has more detailed information on the signals present on these two wires.
....my hopeful thoughts of these two wires being able to switch on/off VW aux heaters easily without any external controllers.
All comments and info welcome ....
thanks for reading,
ThermotopVday.

The pins:
Have you any experience on the differences between wiring up the TTV and VEVO?

If you search on this forum, (use the translation function) there is a lot of info. Looks like the Russians is more in to this.

Many thanks LR3norway,
You have answered my question in your post.
I have searched Google but could not find what Pin 1 and 3 were used for.
It all makes sense now ....
Pin 1 = Enable pin (Not Used or enabled in some Thermotop V or Vevo ....that's good info)
and
Pin3 = External Temperature Sensor (Ahha! ....for cabin temperature using external sensor)
.....so in the 2006 Euro VW Golf with no aircon fitted (very rare to find Euro 2006 VW Golf WITHOUT aircon!), the Webasto Thermotop V unit would have had Pin 1 enabled, so as to allow 12V from dash switch to switch heater on manually
....and Pin 3 would allow monitoring of internal cabin temperature from a sensor built into dash of VW Golf 2006 without aircon.
