Pelyma - the tie-in was the only thing that bothered me about the PCP - but I have been on the large new car buying treadmill for a number of years and it was the only way I could get a D3 sorted out in my case Wink

Nearly at the point of making my mindup on the D3 but the Grand Cherokee is still in the frame.

I have finance quotes from dealers and leasing companies for a 36 month PCP on a new D3.

1. D3 2.7 S auto, metallic paint, power fold mirrors, front PDC - £550
2. D3 2.7 S auto, metallic paint, power fold mirrors, front PDC, leather pack - £590
3. D3 2.7 SE auto, metallic paint - £620

Dealer price on 2 above was £660 so they are not in the running at present.

If I factor in insurance, road tax, servicing etc then 2 and 3 above are a bit outside of my budget.

Grand Cherokee Overland 3.0 CRD - £540 (dealer quote £590)

I have test driven both the D3 and GC and to be honest I couldn't detect much difference other than the GC being a lot quicker. Both are smooth and quiet but I thought the GC was a more involved driving experience. The main thing about the D3 are the seven seats as I have 3 teenage kids.

Decisions, decisions.

BTW I have also had a PCP quote for a nearly new D3 2.7 SE auto (approx 1 year old) of £450 plus the cost of an extended warranty.

This site has been a great source of information and has certainly helped me to understand what potential problems there are with the D3, I have also been on Jeep forums and am well aware of the issues faced by GC owners as well. Seems to be a common thread here!

I had a Grand Cherokee for 2 weeks in Canada last year, yes I did like it a lot, but is was a bit cramped inside for the 5 of us & luggage!
It was the catalyst to me getting a D3, which for me is head & shoulder ahead of anything else!

The Jeep has a lot more cost for servicing so I'm told, not a patch off road, they even send you a flannel to clean yourself up with- I guess that means you stuck more often Laughing

Drive the Jeep & then the D3 on the same day. IMO the D3 is far superior on the road to any of the Jeeps. I like the Jeeps to look at though.

My D3 2.7 S Auto is costing me £503 - PM me if you want to know how (or use search, I think I've explained it before)

This is why I am keen on the D3, 7 seats.

Jeep servicing over the first 3 years is approx £100 dearer.
