This months Land Rover Owner magazine |
|
Has a good article about a Belgian D3 which is extensively modified, including a 2 inch lift on air suspension without affecting electronics! No details though. Looks good.

Well... As it does'nt seem to be possible to buy that one online and as my chances of getting this issue of LROI seems to be nearly nil, I would appreciate if someone "happened" to be able to provide me with some electronic version !
Of course, if there is a legitimate version available for someone living in Georgia right now (And i am NOT talking about Atlanta...), I would really REALLY appreciate !
Thanks... Georgia On My Mind...

I have been in contact with Geoland about their impressive build-ups on their D3's. They have coilers and air sprung versions. The coilers have heavy duty springs from KingSprings in AUS that provide between 35-40mm of lift. Check the thread here on D3 forum for suspension lifts on the Coil Spung version for more info on that.
They also are rumored to have 60mm springs, but have not tested nor installed them as far as I know.
They did lift their air spring version, but won't say how until they return from their month long expedition (returning in August I think).

Looks like a bit of a bodge on the vehicle - the sump guard appears to be 3mm aluminium riveted together, the hidden winch mount, whilst 'nice' in appearance is next to useless should you have to align the cable on anything apart from a perfect 90 degree pull... and as for the write-up (or more correctly, down) in LRO...
Comments such as " I'm wary of air suspension" and "Coil sprung Discovery 3's don't come with terrain response, but that's not a problem for me. I've got many years of experience driving in the desert - and I prefer to keep control myself anyway" together with "We tracked down the only coil sprung TDV6 we could find on sale at a Belgian dealer as we were concerned about the reliability of the air suspension", the final nail in the coffin "We prefer manuals because we've had problems with auto P38 Range Rovers"
FFS - grow up and catch up!
What really annoys me is the same issue has an article on suspension, basically saying that LR's 'legendary' suspension is all down to coil springs... well maybe last century it was
anyway, now that's off me chest, I remember why I cancelled my LRO subscription.... Mrs.10 bought me this months, thinking she was 'doing me a favour'

I think leaf springs were used longer than coils, which started in 1970 with RR, but EAS started what in the 80's with the LSE RR? Not exactly that long and EAS has been around a long time and lets face it Citroen have been able to use it long enough As for TR well even for experienced drivers I'm sure it can help DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
