Throttle delay
I took delivery of my D3 on Saturday and have done 1k in her so far. I am disturbed by the considerable delay between pressing the throttle and any acceleration. I assume that it is a fly-by-wire system as the engine does not rev prior to any response. Is this normal? It is easy enough to compensate for in many situations but when trying to react to a gap in the traffic it makes my driving seem very poor!Serial Depreciation Victim

Ken you may as well had got your gun out and shot him
Dirtydisco..... a very short delay is farly normal on pre2007 models ...there are two ways around it
1/ get a remap
2/ get used to it 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I assumed that this forum was for the sharing of useful information. Perhaps I am misguided. What is a short delay? Also should an 07 model not have the problem? For the record I imagine my driving is very poor. Especially when viewed from the left hand seat of a Dodge.Serial Depreciation Victim

Hey steady on chap ..... it's quite obvious Ken is having a joke at the context of your post The 'short delay' is around a second and the '07 model is mapped slightly differently ....Helpful enough ?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Forgive me. I do not intend to offend. I am just trying to learn a little about the vehicle that members of this site have great enthusiasm for. For the record I drove an F150 prior to the D3. Does a remap have a an effect on economy? I have recorded 29mpg over the firdt 1k with which I am pleased (better than 14). I look forward to your reply.Serial Depreciation Victim

2006- pre 'enhancement' 1 second lag
2006- post 'enhancement' 1/2 second
2007- perceptable but not an issue
Hope that helps - done from my own experience & info here..... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

No worries...
I notice since my last post that you have an '07 model year ...The delay I was refering to was pre'07 MY. The pick up should be much improved for an '07 ...what is the period of the delay?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Without timing it I would say in excess of a second. Enough to think...it isn't going to move. Ken...Don't get me wrong...I still miss my Yank!Serial Depreciation Victim

Do you get a 'roaring' sound when accelerating?

I'd get a remap from JE or TC it will all but eradicate the issue, Although some 07 owners feel that a re-map is not required, it is your choice. Me I left foot brake and balance the throttle never noticed a lag (mines 06my) I'll wait to see the differance on my 08my and go from there, oh it's a Viper SRT-10 and its up for sale

No. Having said that I have been very gentle so far. I would say that on occasions when I have opened the throttle she seems pretty quiet. Especially for the first second!Serial Depreciation Victim

If the delay on the throttle is that severe on an 07MY, then a remap (even one of mine ) won't cure it, causes range from MAP sensor, fuel temp sensor, EGR valve, fuel rail pressure to turbo or VVT actuator. The first step should be to get the dealer to read the ECU for DTC's and take it from there

I am suprised that the differEnce between 06 and 07 is so marked. I wish you luck with your 08 model.Serial Depreciation Victim
