Thule tow bar mounted cycle carrier?

Hi,
Does anyone know if the 'Thule 903' tow ball mounted cyle carrier will fit with the removeable tow ball.
The Thule fitting instructions require a 40mm gap between the ball and the car body/tow ball bracket.
I'd like to carry 3/4 bikes - Any advise or recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I have a Thule RideOn 9403 towbar carrier (see http://www.thule.com/Thule/ProductListPage____33580.aspx) and it fits fine.

See detailed pics at http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=95

Thanks Matt,

I assume there isn't any problems with these type of carriers - I've seen thousands on the continent, do you need to use a support strap?

Thanks once again.

Andy.

Not at all. With mine (which is Thule's cheapest) you just drop it onto the tow bar, tighten up the clamp and that's it.
The bikes just drop on and attach with fabric straps.

At first, it seems unsafe as the bikes do move. But they can't go anywhere and it works well.

Mine is great for the money, but the method of tilting the whole carrier is crude as you have to undo two 'j' shaped brackets. They result is that it is fiddly and time consuming.

I think the better model (EuroWay) has a simple locking leaver, so it is worth paying the little bit extra if you are going to use the carrier a lot.
However, I would say that the Thule stuff is built well and mine is heavy and very robust. It is a bargain for the price and it inlcuded the light board. I'm very pleased with it. It takes longer to fit the LR towbar than it does to fit the Thule carrier.

Good prices and info at http://www.roofbox.co.uk/bikeRec.html
