Hello,
I am about to change the belts and I am missing the upper auxilary belt tensioner (PQH500130)among the parts above. Has it just been missed or is it not changed for some reason?

Peter,

Just looking at doing the same job

PQH500130 is the Aux Belt Upper Idler rather than Tensioner

Only gets changed if you ask

I have a squirly noise so am changing both the Idler (PQH500130) and Tensioner (PQG500250) whilst I am there

Hi

Looking for some advice on the 'optional' parts of the timing belt service.

Timing belt idler pulleys is a bit of a no brainer.

However, if I don't change the Aux belt tensioner (and is there also an idler?) is it a big job (in terms of time) if it goes later?

Also anyone any idea, what is the latest pricing for the timing belt idler pulleys, the aux tensioner and an aux idler pulley (if that exists)?

Local dealer is quoting prices way bigger than TLO's 2012 pricing plus wants an hours extra labour Shocked

Bump!

Anyone?

Could really use an up to date price on those idler rollers. Dealer wants £48 EACH

Look here for a good deal http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/..

Aux belt tensioner is a 15 min job if it needs changing, I have not had to change many and only a few I have changed needed changing..

Flack Thumbs Up

Cheers Flack Thumbs Up

Based on that advice, i'll restrict the optional changes to the idler pulleys now. Talked to dealer today and they were adamant that these pulleys cost £48 each, even though I could show them people selling genuine LR parts on t'internet for £20 and explained that there had been a history of pricing confusion on these parts

So £100 for the pair instead of £35-40. Adds another £60 to the Indy-Dealer gap.

Cancelled the service - going elsewhere now. The dealer was helpful enough but Land Rover soaring spares pricing policy/and pure pricing anomalies aren't helping their dealers compete with Indy's

Why anyone still goes to a dealer is beyond me (except TLO for parts/forum discount Thumbs Up )

£450 for a 1st service, which is as simple as new oil and filter, and a pollen filter is daylight robbery, as is £100 for 2 idler pulleys Shocked

Oh I don't know, £450 doesn't seem that much when you think of how many checks they need to make for all the stuff that could have went wrong on a Land Rover by the time you reach the first service........... Laughing

Seriously though, the only reason we still go to dealers is because most of us will still instinctively value a car higher with 100% dealer service history higher than a mix of dealer/indy. Not saying its right but its what happens. In my case I have a 100% LR service up till now and initially it seemed like not too much extra to keep that 100% record. Wrong! On to Plan B!!!!

In many cases, a car serviced by an indy will be better serviced than that of a main dealer
