How many miles on the clock?
Is there a changing interval with the timing chains?

Is that the Ford 4.0 V6 Ranger engine?
I see those engines with over 215K in the states and still going. Mainly Harmonic Balancer issues, I thought... You just need to replace the Harmonic Balancer properly when you think it's the belts making noise.

There is a reason the 4.0 V6 Petrol Ford Explorer was nicknamed the Ford Exploder.

That 4.0 V6, was used in the Ford Explorer as well as in the Ford Ranger pick up. I have known and seen that engine go over 200K without major issues on Explorer's, Rangers and D3's here in the states. Again mainly needing Harmonica Balancer replacement on the Explorer and Ranger versions.
To me that V6 is stressed on the D3 due to the D3's weight. Calling the D3 V6 the poor man's D3. Since it was a cheaper intro base version compared to the V8 4.4. I also drove the 4.0 version D3 (LR3) not noticing much difference on highway in power, but in Sport Mode the D3 V6.4.0 had no power compared to the V8. Thats why we own 2 V8's and no V6's.
