Hi All,
My V8 D3 (Jaguar 4.4 engine) is misfiring and knocking due to loose timing chain. The repair is being considered by warranty company. Apparently, there's a special service announcement to cover this. Appreciate these are rare vehicles, but anyone know anything about this fault?
Regards,
Paul

Has anybody ever seen anything on a Jaguar website about the timing chain? (Is there a Jag users website or do owners just have the butler do the communicating )? Owning a S-type Jaguar I can provide a bit of info:
The chain tensioners were made of plastic on the original V8 engine when released with the XK8 jag. Due to some failures Jaguar changed the design during production of the 4l V8 version. The 4.2l version got a enhanced design in metal. Jaguars Owners are uograding engines to the later metal version that is used in the 4.2l V8 version as no issue is known so far with the metal chain tensioners.
To my point of knowledge the 4.4l LR V8 was based on the 4.2l Jaguar V8 and therefore should not have the same timing chain tensioner issue.
At least I hope so as I just bought a 2005 V8 HSE...
