Think it picks up the automatic traffic reports from Classic FM......may be so clever that it adds into sat nav but not sure about latter....I could go read the manual
Yup...it's clever.....page 69 of nav system manual states: -
Dynamic navigation, which calculates an alternative route when the system receives the traffic event warning
Traffic event list shows all events sorted by road name/distanec on your selected route in a straight line or along your actual route
Looks as tho it can sing and dance at the same time

I have traffic master built into my L200 and it updates on traffic and re-routes you and also talks to you
I had an MG ZT 260 that updated traffic info but only showed it on the LCD Screen
Is that the same system?

When it's working it's OK but why does it keep losing the TMC channel (Classic FM)? The radio doesn't so why does the TMC module? Any ideas anyone? Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

TMC in mine works most of the time. I occassionally have to re-find Classic FM, but not very often.
Will re-route if it knows there are blockages, which sometimes gets you off the motorway in time.....Bodsys Brake Bible

I've got TMC - never had to retune, always seems to alert me to potential blocks and has re-routed me successfully several times.
With regards losing Classic FM does it do this no matter where in the country you are or only when you pass through certain areas?
I ask because I often do random searches to pick up the local stations when I'm on my travels and to me there seems to be lots of stations around the Classic frequency.
Something to consider?I see no ships........

When it's working it works great, but I'm always having to retune mine. It works for a few weeks then locks onto our local radio station GWR 97.2 and won't let go until I do a manual re-tune.
It's been in to have it fixed, but they couldn't Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

It's because a lot of local radio stations are broadcasting a TMC beacon, if their signal strength is higher than classic FM, the TMC locks onto that instead not LR's fault, just sloppy broadcast techs

That would explain why the TMC never bothers to re-tune itself, it's 'happy' even though there's no data (TMC symbol has red line through it).
Thanks Iain Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Just to understand it, there is only one station with valid TMC info in GB? Over here in Germany there is more stations transmitting data. My old Blaupunkt Navi picked up a TMC signal independent of the radiostation and also checked others in the background. (some of the info I had more than once if the supported areas overlapped..)

Yep, only one station, but across varying frequencies nationwide (well, most of it)
