A remap, couple of extra pounds in the tyres and I think the most important factor is to be very controlled in your acceleration. It’s a heavy car with a lot of inertia. Pulling away from a standing start uses much more fuel than approaching a junction or red light or in traffic slowly keeping some forward momentum to roll on from. I commute around a thousand miles a month. I have played with the permutations and this is the best fuel saving method. I used to drive artic trucks and that was always a driving technique I used to save fuel and much arm and leg movement changing up the box.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Make sure your tyre pressures are set correctly. Every 1psi under increases fuel consumption by 0.4%

I’m also getting around 21mpg although the car thinks I’m getting 27! Unfortunately mostly short journeys. I’m guessing an egr blanking/software delete and remap would make it a bit better. I’m driving extremely gently and anticipate when I’m going to need to slow down.Cheers,

the only things I have found to improve fuel economy are to remove the EGRs and change the air filter regularly, keep the tyres topped up to the correct pressure - Oh and take the MTR Tyres Front Nudge Bar Spotlights roof lights and Expo Roof Rack Off plus empty the 1/4 of a Tonne in the back (But thats enough about the Mother in Law)
Must stop buying shiny toys....

Here’s the graph for 165k miles for Dark Bluie before she popped her clogs/spun her bearings. That’s prob 70 - 80% cruising at 60mph on long hauls so don’t expect too much.

The thing that really made a noticeable improvement with my tdv6 was taking the throttle flap out after doing the EGR blank, only doing short trips around town at the moment @ 19 to 23mpg.

Fitting mud flaps can decrease mpg by 3MPG, It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

My "lifetime" average is 25.2mpg on my spreadsheet. The onboard reckons its 28.8!
Towing the honey wagon I'm down to 14mpg
Best I've ever got out of a tank is 28.99mpg going to the Alps.
I guess 30mpg would be possible on a long motorway run at 60mph if you have the patience.2010MY Disco 4 HSE in Ipanema Sand over Almond.
It's got THE rear diff.
