I have a couple of spare ones - one brand new, one used if you get stuck.

Had same problem with mine...at first it woudl work from inside, then it would only work intermitently from inside then it stopped altogether from inside or outside... ..
Though it could be the acuator or cable...got it open.....well actually my brother did it....replaced teh tailgate handle assembly bought from duckworths (fully colour coded...match was almost there..but difficult to tell difference ...but still no luck... ...then bought replacement actuater from LR....and hey presto it worked...It was teh actuator which was the faulty part!!!!
So check the actuator first I guess....
So still got my old tailgate handle with swithc etc fully working...if any body wants it...oh and I have original tonga green front grill...though I'ld just mention that..

Check under the rubber cover on the tailgate handle. I had the same problem, it turned out that there was lots of limescale type gunk that had stopped the switch plate moving and operating the microswitch. Cleaned it all up and worked perfectly.
Mind you I've since replaced the whole handle with one from Marshalls. For the price it was hard to resist for that 'colour coded' look! 2006 D3 S (I use it when I can prise the keys off the wife!)
2009 Astra CDTi SXi ecoflex (I use this when I can't!)

Replace tailgate actuator |
|
Hi all,
Similar problem on mine.
Striped down the lower tailgate to get to the actuator.
Stripped the actuator unit down and replaced the active part with a replacement from ebay (£9) from a Ford Fiesta.......
Tested the old actuator on the car wiring but not connected to the release cable.
Old actuator not fully moving under power.
Reused the spring and connector from the original actuator and put it all back together and now working a treat.
Thank you Youtube for the pointer to the Ford Fiesta part.
Regards
JC
