Harvested water is exempt from restrictions. Wash at home all yo like with harvested water BUT you must, by law, do it on a grassed area as they don't want soapy water in rivers/ creeks/ Port Philip Bay etc.

Rain means so much here. Drought has been going 5+ years. More rain = good/bumper crops = bigger trains for Me to drive and more of them to be driven = more money.
Even My geology consultancy gets off better for money as I don't have to pay the drillers as much as the ground gets softer (less energy required to drill).
We need lots more.
Rob I thought You blokes copped heaps 2 weeks ago. Nambucca & Macksville did.

We got rain too 5 mm and a fiew dollops the previous weeks and it is starting to green up
After 5 years of drought and desperatly short of water it is starting to GREEN up
Droughts usually only break in autumn here so it is off to a hopefull start
Good for You & Your lot up there Rob.
Hope it dampens down the pollies.
I went down the Monaro Hwy day after NSW Labour day holiday. It was so dry just dust and a few strands of dry, well dead grass. Went into a paddock between Cooma & Bombala, to have a look at an old rail siding, and went past 26 dead & well rotted sheep just lying where they expired from lack of water or feed.
My wife says nothing will make Me cry but I did that day. I did not even think I was on planet Earth because nothing, I thought, could be that desolate and uninspiring.
Hope You get a lot more rain even down would be good.
Cheers,

SE Queensland is going to level 5 water restrictions next month - you shower with a friend (but only every second day), that sort of thing.
It is desperate, especially as the D3 is still wearing the dust and mud from 3 months ago. I even parked out in the last shower but it wasn't enough to even dare going near the paint lest it got scratched.
When the drought breaks, it will be well received. However, I pity all those who rely on ample water to run their businesses - house washers, nurseries, breweries, etc. (I read that it takes 8 litres of water to produce 1 litre of beer). Now that is a worry.

Leigh W,
I asked South East Melbourne Water, the local water authority, how I could wash the house in preparation for painting. Expecting to be told "Bad luck" in these stage 4 restrictions or at best with buckets. The person at the call centre said "You can use a normal garden hose for that".
"Are You sure?" I questioned.
"Hang on I'll check with My supervisor". After about 15 seconds "Yes thats fine; use your garden hose" she chortled.
"Er.. OK thanks"
