Hi
Went for it after months of looking around. Original budget was £10k but after looking at all the horror stories ended buying from a dealer. It's a Grey XS with 60k, one owner. After looking around this was the best example I had seen, bought it straight away (£17k). Comes with 1 year Land Rover warranty, I have asked for a cost to extend this to 2 as the belts and oil pump probably won't be done for 2 years. I will be picking it up mid Jan. Anything else I should look out for ?
Thanks
Rich

I've had my 08 XS (Buckingham Blue) for nearly 2 years now...love it.
No major issues so far, just a couple of small things:
Front wheel bearing
Rear brake caliper binding which took out the disc and pad.
Handily neither of which happened in the first year when i Had the full LR warranty from the dealer!
Welcome and enjoy!

I've had my 57 Plate XS 5 Years Now and had two failed EGR's
Just replaced all suspension components on the front end inc new Arms, ARB Bushes etc, New Tyres X4 and Disks & Pads all round, mainly because i wanted V8 brakes all round, All serviceable items really so i cant complain at all.
I was changing cars every 6 - 18 Months before and was losing between 4.5K - 12.5K every time i did this.
So man maths means that i'm actually in pocket
I did say to the Mrs that i would keep this one for a while i didnt manage to convince her as i never do but i didnt count on convincing myself either ?
Many on here say the same thing

My 57 plate has had so far:
1 altenator - Collapsed bearings £655 pounds - I only Paid £177 as my warranty covered most of the bill.
2 Egr valves £840 - Warranty company refused to pay
Front discs & pads £240 - Servicable item
Prior to my ownership- Over the last year she has had the following items:
EPB
Compressor
I also had the Cambelt & main service completed at the time of purchase.
Hopefully thats it for any problems as she is great to drive, She is like an italian sports bike (always worried it wont start and whats going to break)
I have decided if I end up with 1 more bill of £1000 I will buy a Defender as they are more simple to work on. 1997 BMW R1100GS

I know sorry about posting in the wrong area maybe someone can move it for me ?
Anyway the 08 XS comes with 12 months Land Rover approved warranty (its has 60k miles).
I have asked the dealer about extending this to 24 months, he came back with an extra £755.
What do you disco experts think about that? Is it worth it? Will i sleep at night without it?
My £10 budget is totaly smashed, almost doubled !
