BAS FBH controller , fitting a gsm unit?. |
|
Hi there,
Apologies if this has been covered previously but I have yet to find it amongst the mass of FBH search results
I have a Bas FBH remote unit , and I am wondering if i were to buy a gsm ( door/gate opener thingy) can I simply ( need explanation , preferably a picture or 10 ) attach a lead from the gsm to the correct part of the Bas unit and jobs a good un?
Or is it far more technical than that and in therefore way beyond me and my limited elecktrickery abilities
Thanks.

Hi Robbo .
Are you saying pete sells the gsm units ? and if so is just a unit connected to one of his standard FBH controllers or is it a different standalone unit please?
Didn't bother pete as I guessed he has more than enough tedious enquiries from people on a daily basis so I though I would share my tediousness with everyone ( I'm good like that )
Cheers,

I take a pic tomorrow for you , but it connects to his controller, and talks to it.
really simple, I am sure Pete will be able to sort you out, I have mine with a giffgaff sim so it cost me nothing, I just get it to message me once a week the status of the system, had to clear the faults remotely on the system the other day as the weather had tried to activate it but fuel lock out had occurred, its great send Cf and the unit cancels all codes and then start it and it does several priming and starts in a controlled manner to ensure a successful run every time, it grreeaatttt! Oky doky, thanks Robbo.
I will contact pete and ask if he can sell me just the gsm part to add to my existing bas unit.
Dependent on what is needed to be done I may see if he will supply and fit if I were to pop over as he is only 15 or so miles away.
Thanks again.

You may need a firmware upgrade to your original kit 1 to enable it to work with GSM kit 2, but Pete will sort it out.
The GSM kit adds alot of functions to kit 1 which make life easier.

Hi Glen ,
What other functions could there be, other than turning it on/off?
Thanks,

Hi Nick,
other functions are...
Delayed start (be ready in xx mins), economy mode (it will run until its hot enough not the full 30 minutes), easier fault clearing and fuel priming. Testing of individual components, best of all feedback - its started or its received an invalid command, you can use it as a thermometer by sending a command to read status.
Here´s a write up I did some time ago.
