Yeeaaah. And isn't the self cleaning device great. Another Oz design. Falcons were all able to arrive at any destination after travelling on our outback roads minus dust, mud etc and with a high gloss!!!!!!!!
Can Landie get the patent???? Would be great for our drought areas. On second thoughtss - isn't the D3 made by Ford???

Thanks for that DG. Those Ford ads bring back memories - but just where are Dunlop Aquajets (with a thin red sidewalls) now?
Years ago I got that model panel van (6 cylinder auto) bogged to the floorpan on a salt flat (mangrove mud underneath) and had to rely on a old Series 2 shorty to pull us out. The black ooze stunk like heck too!!
The government saw the value in them as well. The Department of Civil Aviation had a Falcon V8 panel van fitted with a large bladder and towed a small trailer. We would drive this unit along the rubber deposits on runway ends at airports. At the required speed (80 mph, IIRC) you had to pump the water onto the pavement and have the trailer (with skewed wheels) measure the friction of the surface. If below standard the rubber deposits would have to be cleaned off. I wonder how they do it nowadays?
Ah, those were the days...

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

I had an XA sedan. Only had a 200ci with 3-on-the-tree! Went to the drive-ins lots with a nurse I was seeing at the time.
Then my dad retired and gave me his XY 250 wagon. I ended up giving it away a couple of years ago to a drug rehabilitation mob who got a grant to restore it. Loved that car. Dad had it from new. I was only 5 when he got it and I can still remember the day he drove in the driveway!Have a nice day!

They look like the bees knees for dirt roads and washed out bridges. Don't need a D3 anymore.
I just went down to the local Ford dealer and asked them when they were getting in the new Falcon Hardtop and they just looked at me strangely ......Whats wrong, aren't they available yet

Do any of you guys remember the McLeod Ford "Horn-Cars".............they were tricked up Falcon hard top coupes. The full-page adds in the old Wheels magazines were quite 'artistic' - I remember one orange coupe with 'great gatsby' style dressed models.'11 TDV6 - Stornoway Grey.... still lovin' it!!
