What's the current word on the street re delivery dates on orders placed as soon as the dealer is physically able to do so?
I got wildly conflicting 'views' when shopping around to order one and eventually ordered locally (which dealership also did me the best financial deal). My local dealership, Guy Salmon Bristol, is being straight and saying they're not getting anything yet from LR.
Anyone hearing anything different? Views on this forum a few weeks back ranged from mid-Nov to mid-Jan.

Last information I had suggests production should start on 5th November and deliveries from 11th November.

Any body got an update on this ?
Need to get prior to 31st December but no one seems to be able to guarantee this.
Any update would be appreciated especially from LR themselves
Cheers Previously those that have a special place in my heart

Message from Pete at LR:
Quote:Ok just to clarify, production is scheduled to begin on the 4th November, following this the vehicle is scheduled to official go on sale 11th November.
Unfortunately at this point I cannot update further on the delivery dates but I should be able to get more information on ETA early to mid November.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I will continue to chase this up for you and come back to you as soon as I have dates.
Dealers know nothing more. Orders still in 'holding pool' til they get their allocations. Just hope you're in their first wave of orders. All dealer demonstrators and dealer principal cars will take precedence over customer orders, as usual
I'm in the same boat - wish I'd held onto my Disco 3 a bit longer now but made the mistake of believing that production starting on 4 Nov might actually mean deliveries in Nov for those who ordered early. Won't make that mistake again

They won't guarantee anything ...it's all estimated....even if the dealer tries to call a build slot forward ...nothing is guaranteed. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Apart from death and taxes (and something else a younger, less PC version of myself might have mentioned)

OK... please don't shoot the messsenger here...
Having ordered the new Commercial for an anticipated 1st March delivery (and mindful of the other comments in this thread and elsewhere on the site regarding build slots etc, I have had the following:
"Build for 201MY Discovery is unlikely to commence before January 2014 - if it does, it will be a matter of days prior to the end of the year. All orders that are currently placed will retain their place in the queue and will be manufactured in sequence."
My vehicle is now likely to land sometime in April (at best)...
Apparently this is all down to the huuuuuuge backlog of RRS to work their way through the system and the fact that they may (!) make more profit per unit on the RRS than the D4...
Grrrrr! D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

Interesting. I had not thought that production of D4s was dependent on RRS or vice versa - different production lines. So, unless it's a case of not enough manpower to staff both production lines I don't understand how one should affect the other?
Anyway, presumably the info from LiftedDisco came from LR?

The new FFRR, RRS and Disco4 are all built on the same single line 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I am told that production for RRS SE variants has now been put back to April 2014
Because sales of RRS HSE are so strong and presumably profitable Illegitimi Non Carborundum

The variants and indeed the motors are all built JIT so you can quite easily have 3 FFRRs then a Disco then 2 RRS then a FFRR then a Disco etc on the line in that order .......they don't block build a derivative the build them as they come into order priority ...the problems occur with tooling, machinery issues and mostly demand and everything backs up 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yep, but I think you will find that the engine is common to both and that this is the limiting factor...
Given they can only shift X number of units, logic suggests that they would go for the ones with the highest profit margin...
Yes - the information came direct from Land Rover and I have no reason to doubt it... D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

just trying to explain how the line works ...it could be delayed for several reasons tbh I don't see why there is any more of the usual backlog when you look at sales. I suspect supply chain issues are more the problem 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
