D4 - speccing for resale value? |
|
Hi all,
Am looking at switching my much loved D3 for a new MY14D4. The thing is I may well need to chop it after a year or 18 months. Ignoring whether its a sensible plan for now, how should I spec it to ensure it retains its value?
What's worth having and what will I never see value for?
Probably looking at HSE or HSE luxury.
Thanks VIN: A175A328***

If you are looking at a HSE then I would think the less options the better (if limiting financial losss your priority)
The two biggest options to consider are
Sensible colour (who knows what that is today)
Big fat discount
I have only ever bought one brand new car in my time, spent £8k on extras, come resale time 13 months later, I reckon I got about £4k back on them.
Ps merry Xmas....just enjoying a rest bite while the wife and MIL cooks lunch and kids plays with their new toys - bliss

What he says.
What works best in my experience is:
- spend as little as possible in the first place.
- a sensible color. Dealers will tell you this means silver, dark grey or black. Nowt else.
- privacy glass.
- and that's about it.
I really wouldn't bother with the hse lux. Like almost every extra, you dont get your money back. I haven't had an hse yet, but I think they'll be easier to flog if you're left holding onto a D4 when the D5 comes out. PAGODA

I own an HSE luxury........
The things I use every day is the premium sound stereo.....which is brilliant and the tv package which is also exceptional.....
The heated steering wheel is also on every day.....the remote fbh I had retro fitted far cheaper than ordering it supplied.....
The things I don't use is the camera systems as IMHO they are completely worthless and rubbish...save yourself £750..... However a new buyer might think differently....

Remember the new camera system is linked to all the other new features.
Colour is important (and not a experience silver), mainly get the options you want not the options you think someone might want.
For example, my wife flatly wouldn't let me have a heated steering wheel so paying for one wasn't going to happen, would it deal break a 12month old car? I don't buy second hand so I don't know...I suspect no.
I loved my tv but I'm not having one this time as 500 was a bit steep for occasional use.
